Spooky Halloween Treats

Spooky Halloween Treats

We LOVE Halloween at our house. My boys seem to celebrate Halloween all year round dressing up in their favorite costumes on a regular basis. Not only do they love to dress up, but they LOVE to help me create "spooktacular" treats!

Whether we are making creepy spiders out of cookies and cupcakes or graveyard scenes from brownies, there are plenty of fun times to be had in the kitchen to celebrate Halloween for the kids.

One of our favorite treats to use as Halloween decorations in recipes is a big bag of Autumn mix that consists of two different colors of candy corn and the big candy corn pumpkin. These items are a great way to jazz up cookies, cakes and brownies.

Other items to keep stocked in your pantry for fun treats to make with the kids are: brownie mixes, cookies, pretzels, gummy candies, M&M's and frosting. You can create goulish treats for the entire month of October!

I've created a simple and ultra kid friendly Halloween recipe that is sure to be a hit.....meet my Graveyard Brownies :)

Fudgy Graveyard Brownies

  • 1 8x8 inch size brownie mix
  • 6 Oval cookies for the grave, we used Milano Cookies
  • 6 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed to make the "dirt"
  • 6 candy corns and 6 pumpkin candy corns
  • 1 Cup melted chocolate for frosting and piping

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake brownies in an 8x8 inch pan lined with foil, sprayed with cooking spray. Let cool completely then cut into 6 rectangles.

Frost with melted chocolate reserving 2 Tablespoons for piping the cookies. Pipe RIP onto the Milano Cookies then press into the back of each brownie. Top with a candy corn pumpkin and candy corn. Sprinkle with crushed Oreos for the "dirt." Serve :)
