Pot Stickers with Sweet Orange Dipping Sauce

A take-out treat you can make at home.

Serves: 12
Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Smithfield Product: Fresh Pork, Ground Pork

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 4 green onions, finely diced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 16 wonton or pot-sticker wrappers
  • 1 egg whisked together with 1 teaspoon water
  • For Dipping Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 Thai bird chili, finely diced

Steps

Fill a pot two-thirds full with water and bring to a boil.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the pork, white onion, ginger, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

Lay out wrappers on a flat work surface. Place 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture in the middle of each wrapper. Brush the edges of each wrapper with the egg mixture and fold each in half, pressing the edges together gently.

Gently drop the wontons into the boiling water and allow to cook for 1-2 minutes. Remove wontons with a slotted spoon and place on a cooling rack.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add remaining oil. Place cooled wontons into the pan and allow to cook until browned on one side. Do not turn pot stickers.

Mix together all ingredients for the dipping sauce and serve with the pot stickers.
